Product Description

The Reference Subwoofer for Reference Systems If you are assembling a reference home theater system with a high definition video projector or monitor along with an audio system that exceeds the sound quality and sheer visceral impact of premiere movie theaters, then this is absolutely the subwoofer for you. The Reference incorporates a 14 inch SuperCube® Technology driver pressure coupled to two 14" Ultra Low Bass Radiators. The total piston area of this complement is an astonishing 460 square inches; equivalent to a 24-inch diameter woofer but with far greater speed, musicality and control than a single large diameter woofer could ever deliver. With that much moving driver area, you can fill any domestic living space with loud, visceral, deep and musical bass.Music Lovers RejoiceSubwoofer manufacturers are always talking about how "explosive" their subwoofers are (frankly so do we), but there's more to home entertainment than rocket blasts and explosions-there is music, be it in the movies you watch or the CDs you enjoy. And for music the quality of a subwoofer's performance is way more important than the quantity. The bass should be "tight," precise, and musical. Bass notes should have pitch, not just a dull thud or drone. Definitive Technology was started by and is run by music fanatics and the very first thing we do to evaluate a subwoofer prototype design is to listen to music. If a subwoofer doesn't do an exemplary job with music reproduction, it isn't a Definitive.Mas

5A mover and a shaker
By Kam G.
Need bass? This subwoofer DELIVERS. It's hard to believe such powerful bass comes from such a compact package. I have used it mainly for movies, but performs great for music (though most reviews I have read say it's better for movies). Have no doubt, this thing will send shock waves through the walls and your bones -- effortlessly. And with great precision. The sound is tight, smooth and just a pleasure to listen to -- and feel. Buy one and you'll be totally satisfied; buy two to eliminate all standing waves and get perfect bass throughout your listening area. I have this thing working in tandem with a Velodyne FSR-15 Servo and oh, what team they make! I have reached Bass Nirvana.

5Sleeping Giant!!!
By Edward III
I own four Mythos STS's,2 Mythos Gem XL's and a Mythos Ten. Which all combined puts out very very powerful and forceful amounts of bass and excellent sound quality. But I decided to get 2 of these behemoths and they are like a sleeping giants one minute they are asleep and the next they send a shock wave like a bomblast through me and my house. For music they are pretty good I give them a 7 out of 10 but for movies and video games that is where they really excel for movies and games I give them a 10 out of 10 they are unbelievable especially Blu Rays or HD DVDs. Movies and games really reach subterranean depths they can put out bass so low you can't hear a thing but you feel them shaking the earth and resonating through your body and pressurizing the entire house they truly put out more bass than anything I have felt in theaters. Sometimes the bass feels as if I am in a river stream with fast moving water all around me but it is not uncomfortable. Normally I just have the both of them at 50% gain and that is more than enough. Someone asked me why so much power and bass because with my 4 Mythos STS's and there built in amps along with my 2 Super cubes I have a total of 4,800 watts of subs, but I think it is better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it lol. But it is not all about just bass and power and volume it is about sound quality and being able to integrate them into you sound system with out overpowering the other speakers. I have had no issues doing just that. If you want to see pics of my HT setup and many many others go to "B l u r a y . c o m" my profile is Alpha Sixx.

5Incredible for rearranging furniture to the kickdrums
By R. Done
I bought this after my second of three amplifier boards in my Polk Audio DSW600s died after very few years. The Polks destroyed a drywall wall from vibrating it so bad, but I spent alot of time messing with the Polks to get where I could feel kickdrums to no avail. They were very good at reproducing the boomy bass, but couldnt feel the kick drums at all, even with 3 of them.I was leery about the passive radiator of the DT subs muddying up the kickdrums, but I was instantly very impressed with its ability to shake everything in my 20x30 room to the kickdrums! After spending a bit of time trying to make sure this one was phased correctly to the existing Polk Audio subs, I realized that it over powered them so much that it didnt hardly matter. I may as well just turn the Polks off.Can hardly wait to save up more to get at least one more of these monsters!
