Excellent Felt Board!

I LOVE this felt board! It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be so I keep the boxes under my bed. There are tons of pieces to cut out and it takes some time to sort them all. The the organizers help a lot. I can't imagine trying to sort all the pieces without them. I use this board for my preschool class at church and the kids are very engaged and remember more about the stories because of the felt board. Highly recommend!

be prepared to cut out a LOT of flannel

Maybe i was just naive, but i really had no idea how difficult it would be to get this set cut out and organized. There are about 25 HUGE flannel pages with LOTS of pieces to cut out on each page. If you don't have a large group of people to help you with this, i imagine it could take months to get everything cut out. Once cut out, it'll take another week to get it organized in the system they provide, which is average at best.The product is very large, and you may find difficulty storing the product due to the size of the backdrops and the size of the boxes for storage.Overall the product is very helpful and the children i teach (ages 3-5) respond very well, but it takes a LOT of work to get a lesson organized (finding each piece mentioned in the included book within the storage system is not easy).Sometimes the felt doesn't stick to the backboard effectively.

The Best Teaching Tool I Ever Bought

I purchased this set appx 5 years ago. I also bought the file system to file all the pieces, as well as extra backgrounds and overlays and the script book. The kit is an excellent way of teaching children the Bible. My students are always actively engaged with the story and loved to move the colorful figures around on the boards after I tell the story. I found they were retelling the story themselves, after hearing it, immediate feedback for me on my lesson's effectiveness. They love the little sheep when you tell about the lost lamb. They can move David's sling when he defeats the giant. It is so "touchable!" Other teachers who see my set are immediately interested in it as well. The kit comes in sheets and all the little pieces have to be cut out one by one. But this makes much more sense and is more economical as well, than buying individual stories. With the kit, you have all the basic pieces you need. The script book gives a basic retelling for each story, and a simplified picture of the basic pieces needed to tell that story. But, it can be done much more in detail by adding more flannel pieces to flesh out the scenery. With the kit, you have all the scenery you could ever need to tell any story. Especially animals. I think what I enjoy most is having the little dog piece, which I add at Jesus' feet every time I do a story with Jesus. It illustrates my point that Jesus was so kind and loving that even the stray animals would have followed him to sit at his feet. Children can identify with animals loving Jesus. My kit is still in excellent shape, despite all the hundreds of hands that have held and loved the pieces. I think it is a remarkable and profitable investment in the Bible literacy training of the children that I have taught. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who loves the Bible stories.Vicky Hunt[...][...]
