Best Rainfall Shower and Not a Water Hog!!!

UPDATE: October 2012A superlative shower head that has delivered consistently excellent showers, with its air-jet system of making the 2.5gpm flow feel like 6gpm. We still love our Hansgrohe rainfall shower head, body jets, and hand spray/showerhead on a shower bar. Still a snap to clean after nearly 2 years of daily usage. When our kids (grown) visit, they like to use our master bathroom shower instead of their very nice, remodeled shower. Everyone has a different favorite, whether it's the Hansgrohe Axor rain showerhead, the bodyvets, or the hand held sprayer.BOTTOM LINE AS OF 2012: We would buy this again in a heartbeat. We installed Hansgrohe in our kitchen, too. When we update the remodeled 2nd bath, we'll add Hansgrohe there, too. Hmmm, time to buy stock ...ORIGINAL REVIEW: 2010After extensive research on several different high-end shower systems, I bought all Hansgrohe Axor brushed nickel: rainfall shower head, 4 bodyvettes (body jets), hand sprayer, and a wall-bar from Pacific Sales. (Got a great deal with competing quotes from Fergusons, Snyder-Diamond, and two online vendors as well. The cheap Chinese knockoffs were nearly the same cost as what we negotiated for Hansgrohe. It helped that we were also buying the thermostatic valve and valve diverter, 2 sinks, lavatory faucets.)The shower head is pure bliss in the shower, while not being wasteful of water! The rainfall can be adjusted from a gentle, light rain to a waterfall-like downpour. Wonderful.You need to also buy the ceiling mount or shower arm for this shower head. Also, we picked the height of our ceiling mount based on the tallest person in our household. The rainfall shower feels differently based on the height that the shower head is hung. The superior design and construction of Hansgrohe products are evident in their look and feel, and the workmanship shines in its ease of use. The finish stays looking great after a shower, unlike the Moen shower system we bought earlier for another bathroom. Moen -- what a mistake!!! The Moen finish shows water spots every time it's used. Unlike Hansgrohe where a simple swipe of a paper towel will do the trick, a special stainless steel cleaner is needed to buff out the hard water stains on the Moen. I would buy the Hansgrohe shower head again, and nearly anything Hansgrohe, hands down.Unlike Kohler (another brand we liked for its sleek tile rain shower head), Hansgrohe delivers a luxurious shower without emptying my water heater. I didn't have to spend hundreds of dollars extra to install a tankless water heater, with its attendant annual hard water cleaning (in my area). Another thing about the Kohler water tile, we reviewed its installation with our general contractor and subcontractor plumber. The plumbing needed for the ceiling mount rain shower head was 8 elbows that needed welding. Each welding adds cost and complicates the water input. Besides, the Kohler uses ~8 gallons of water per minute and is made for a water-rich state, which ours isn't. A tankless water heater would have met the water input needs, but then we'd need a dedicated line to our electrical panel for the tankless water heater, an additional cost of several thousand dollars.Everything about the Hansgrohe shower system has met and surpassed my expectations. BTW, my husband and I were doubtful we even wanted or needed body jets, but we decided to try them as Pacific Sales offered such a good deal. I don't like any shower except mine now. ;)

Awesome Shower head!

I totally agree with mtbgirl, I installed mine last night and it truly is an awesome shower head. With the Air-jet technology you can FEEL EVERY water drop hitting your body, kind of like standing in the rain! To see, feel and HEAR the difference between with and without the air induced jet all you have to do is put your finger in the center where the air intake is to temporary block the flow of air and you can't believe the difference! Overall I am very happy with the product so far.

Transforms a shower experience

I have had a number of showerheads, including some solid performers from Speakman, but this showerhead is terrific. Great coverage, almost like having multiple showerheads. You cannot adjust the spray; thus, you have to like a gentle output.
