I purchased these to replace a 20 year old set of Jason (junk) brand binoculars. I have never owned a very expensive set of binoculars so the qualifier is I have not had much to compare the Nikon Action too. What I will tell you is I feel like I got a really good product for the money I spent. We have used the binoculars at our place up north to view all kinds of wild life from birds thirty feet away to deer hundreds of yards away and every view was awesome. I can't imagine spending hundreds more on binoculars for the general purpose user. Do yourself a favor and try the Nikon Action 8 x 40 you will not be disappointed.
