This cartridge is just what I needed for converting my vinyl collection to digital. Every vinyl record that I transcribed with this Ortofon Arkiv sounded surprisingly amazing! This is a very sensitive instrument. I recommend that you thoroughly clean your record and treat it with Gruv-Glide before using since every detail in the recording including the imperfections of the vinyl record will be noticed.

I cannot imagine any cartridge sounding better for this price. I have run about 100 records through it and to me it sounds really nice. I bought this to replace an old Audio-Technica (8008) that is no longer made. This Ortofon was about $20 cheaper than the A/T was 13 years ago, and it sounds better than I remember that cart sounding. This is marketed as being good for transcribing vinyl to digital, and it does well for that purpose; but I also use just for kicking back and listening, and I cannot point out any flaws in how it performs. Bass, treble, and midrange all sound as they should to me, and stereo separation is fantastic. Long story short, this is a fantastic value!

I'm enjoying this Arkiv cartridge very much. This has been exactly what I needed: a quality, affordable needle for converting old vinyl (50s-60s) to digital.
