By Samuel Wear
This is a great and very sophisticated scanner. It's capable of doing a lot and is programmable using your computer, a $30 cable and some software from the Internet, but the included manual can be difficult to use. There is an easier-to-read manual that's been put together by a scanner enthusiast and uploaded to the web. Also, be aware that the included list of frequencies is out of date.Although many police agencies have moved to un-monitorable radio systems due to the prevalence of criminals carrying scanners, there's still a lot of interesting stuff out there that you can listen to!

By B. Rutkin
This scanner's my first, so I don't have much to compare it to, but it appears to have excellent sensitivity, crisp audio, and with an external AC power supply or an auto power cable, it can charge Ni-MH AA cells while it in use. It seems ruggedly made (I have dropped it onto pavement more than once). Like everyone else who has reviewed this scanner, I found the instruction manual confusing. The simple fact that you need to program all frequencies of a trunked system into one bank exactly the way you program conventional systems, after which you program the trunking system mode and data once for the bank took me hours to figure out. I must have reread the trunking portion of the manual a dozen times or more. The icing on the cake is that the manual is poorly organized and lacks an index. Still, I would recommend this scanner in a heartbeat.

By trid2bnrml
This model feels good in your hand, not at all the thin, plastic-type that I expected. Once I got it programmed, it received pretty well even though I'm out here in the "boonies". The best thing was the computer link. I bought this item used, so the only issue I had was the battery door was pretty tight fitting, but it soon worked it's self out. All in all, I'm happy with it for what I paid for it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this product new, now that I've had a chance to try this one out.
