I purchased this train for my 7 year old son for Christmas. I viewed several trains on Amazon and decided to go with this one becuase it had more track with it than mostand it seemed like it came with a decent amount of accessories. My husband put it together and my son just gets very frustrated with it. It constantly falls off the track. The train and the cars are smaller than I expected and made of light plastic. It hardly comes with anything else in terms of mini trees and people. He actually said "mom, I hope you're not mad, but I don't really like this train". After seeing it I don't feel it's worth the price or the frustration.

Recently I've entered a 'second childhood' of sorts and decided to get back into HO scale model railroading.However I was not absolutely sure that I would really 'get' into the hobby again, I decided to look for the most comprehensive DC train set (as opposed to the newer more expensive digital DC sets) for the least amount of money and this is it.You get one diesel locomotive and a good deal of rolling stock including 2 box cars with adjustable doors, a coal car, a tilting gravel car, and one caboose. I recall someone complaining that the loco was loud in operation but I did not find that to be the case.Also included are three 'action' sets including a coal tipple, a railroad crossing, and a gravel dump.A large amount of rail (with black molded plastic roadbed) is also provided, giving you two large ovals connected by two manual switches, and a bridge and pier set so that the one oval crosses over the other. An AC/DC transformer/power pack is provided to power the locomotive and any AC accessories you get later (lights, electric swithes, etc).In addition a whole bunch of other HO scale items are provided such as a few small buildings, 2 cars and a truck, a signal bridge, telephone poles, a few trees, and some figures.So far I'm quite pleased with the value.

Good buy for beginners electric train. Bought for grandchild of 3 1/2. Together we have built and run train on town and country environment. He get's soooo excited! For me, a child again!
