By FromageTheDog
I've always favored Precision Instruments for torque wrenches; unfortunately in this torque range their only offering is 1/4" drive which is useless for my application (I own 3/8" and 1/2" drive sockets only). Previously used the Craftsman offering in this range which eventually failed, much as I suspected it would, at the plastic locking ring. Rather than throw good money after bad, I thought I'd try my luck with GearWrench, since I am extremely happy with their ratchet sets. My concerns - it's not easy to figure out where the wrench is made (in the USA), or what the locking ring is made of (metal). Having received and used the wrench, my concerns were laid to rest - the wrench is well made, with a sturdy metal locking ring and the micrometer adjuster has a nice detent. The low-profile head in particular is extremely nice; there were places in my Subaru engine bay where I had to go through all sorts of theatrics to get the Craftsman wrench to fit - easy in-and-out with this wrench. Of course, calibration is spot on. Extremely happy with this purchase!

I highly recommend this torque wrench to anyone needing one for their garage at home, and maybe even professional mechanics. I recently purchased this item because I needed it in order to accurately rebuild a Honda transmission. The torque is very precise and clicks once you have reached the desired specification. Only bad thing I could say is that the reverse/forward selector is plastic. Really wish that were metal, but even still, it seems very strong. Plus, you do not use this wrench like you would a regular ratchet so it is not as likely you would break it off. Also, this wrench is MADE IN THE USA!

By Russ
I've used this wrench a lot over the last few weeks and had no problems with it. The click when you reach the torque setting is obvious. The locking nut is metal, and it feels like it will hold up over time.My only complaint is that the torque settings are etched into the shaft and are very hard to see. It would have been nice if they etched them deeper and filled them in with ink (I tried to fill them in, but they are etched too shallow to hold ink). The scale is in-lb on one side and N-m on the other. It does not come with a calibration certificate, only a small print out with what appears to be some test values and a date. If you need certification on this wrench, I think you are out of luck.
