This fireplace was packaged very carefully, with no damage. I was originally a little concerned about the price, but it appeared to be very nice on the internet. When we received it......it was MUCH NICER than expected. The flames are VERY realistic & it easily heats our small living room & dining room. And, an additional nice feature is the blower is VERY quiet.You pay a little more for a Dimplex, but you really get what you pay for.Highly recommond this product!

We have about a 700sq foot basement and this unit definitely takes the chill out of the air. We have owned this unit for 5 months.Pros:#1 - Great Price & FREE shipping with Prime! (This purchase alone makes prime worth the subscription)#2 - The unit is absolutely beautiful with great realistic flames#3 - Extremely easy to assemble. Funny - I bought a $100 Westminster Chime (antique) mantle clock and realized I had no "mantle"! So I bought this $600 fireplace so I would have a nice place to put the clock. Assembly was a breeze - any easier and it would have put itself together. The most difficult part was working with the UPS guy to get it up my steps. It is well packaged and, unless you see the outside of the box severely damaged, you can be sure that it will come together in an immaculate condition.After assembly I noticed a very pronounced "half moon" shaped gray dome in the firebox that detracted from the realism of the flames. This "half moon" is pronounced whether the flame is on or not. I wondered if I had received a defective unit so I called Dimplex. (Be prepared for a hold time of about 90 minutes for support.) I was told that other customers had called and complained about this but was told "unfortunately this is the way the unit was designed and there's nothing that can be done about it". There is no other firebox that can be substituted for this one that does not have this gray "half moon" effect. I asked if her use of the term "unfortunate" indicated that there might be a design flaw to which she responded (after some hesitation) "no". If it were not for this "half moon", I would have given the unit five stars. The only thing that dissuades me from returning it is the enormous chore of repackaging it.I would suggest to anyone considering the purchase of this model that they find it in some local store and view it. Some may find the "half moon" effect objectionable and others may not.I've added a short video that shows the half moon effect. You can see that it is *very* pronounced and not very attractive.
