The colors are fully water soluble- simply draw on any surface that is suitable for watercolor and then blend colors with a wet brush. The leads are bonded down the complete length of the pencil which prevents breakage. This also ensures that the color leads will not slip out of the wood casing during use. First, I have to say that Faber-Castell watercolor pencil is really fabulous. I like the rich color, the feeling of those pencils when held in hand, and also the wood case. And this kit has not only 48 nice pencils, and also the pencil sharper (for normal and color pencils) and an eraser and a brush; the basic tools that you will need for a nice picture.Plus, the shipping is really fast. I expected it arrived maybe in a month since it's shipped from Europe. However, I received it in about one week. That's very impressive. Also the packaging is very carefully treated. You will want those pencils are in good shape when they are delivered, and they did!I'm very satisfied with this color pencil kit, and I may consider get 120 colors one later when this one is used out.
