Four outer snap pockets, plus hand-warmer pockets and internal security pocket. Back stowage pocket originally designed to put game in. Under-collar tab keeps collar up to hold out cold and breezes. By W. A. Campbell
I was very impressed with the quality of this coat, thick heavy wool and well made it should last for years. The collar is wide enough that it easily covers your ears with some room to spare. One point to consider when ordering though, the sizing is generous. I ordered an XL which is my normal size in coats and this one is big enough for quite a bit of layering which I prefer but if you don't you might want to go down one size.

I have one of these that my father purchased in the 1950's. Yes, its heavy, and very warm! a couple of years ago, I passed it along to my son. Thats 3 generations wearing the same field coat. I own other Woolrich products including their plush throws, shirts and, other coats that I have purchased. I recently purchased another field coat. I have depended on Woolrich quality for many years and I trust that I will for many years to come. I gotta hand it to them, The things that I have purchased from them have not been the latest fad but, Exude quality and workmanship! The WOOLRICH company has been around long before I was born and I hope will be around long after I'm gone. I cant say enough about the quality of their clothing. Great stuff!!!

By Paul J. Meisch
I ordered this coat because I was nostalgic for my dad's old Woolrich coat from the 60s. DO NOT BE FOOLED! This IS NOT your father's Woolrich field coat!!! Please, DO NOT under any circumstances waste your money on this garment without seeing it in person first. It is plain and simple Chinese junk! If you have any delusion that Woolrich is the same company that meant quality back in "the day" you will be heartbroken. This "classic" which boasts "Heritage" pattern is piss-poor, shoddy, worse than bargain-brand construction. Having spent over 20 years in the Navy I would never have believed that my "issue" clothing could be under-performed by a major-brand icon like Woolrich, but alas, I am sadly mistaken. This one takes the cake.First of all, it is MADE IN CHINA which is not necessarily a bad thing unless it is a Woolrich product which means it is a total sham. The stitch work, seam work, wool, buttons, thread, fit and finish is CRAP! If I didn't know better I'd think it was counterfeit but alas, it is 3rd-world labor making a few pennies or yuan per day and their dedication to their job shows.Really? Little pink buttons with maybe 5 threads to secure it to this bulky "wool" coat? There aren't even 4 holes in the button to give it a little strength. Just two little holes for these mini-pink buttons and after less than 10 wears they're already pulling out and that's after only buttoning the coat a couple of times for fear of ripping them out (and no, I'm not busting out at the seams, this "large" jacket is very boxy/roomie).It fits like a bag. It may take 50 years for it to feel anything other than a block of shapeless "wool" unlike what is depicted on the Woolrich website or catalog where the jacket looks very well-worn and cozy. Nope, this thing comes in a plastic bag (probably required by customs to suffocate the Chinese moths) and looks like prison-quality cut. Embarrassing purchase. Finally, if you do disregard my plea, be prepared to spend at least a week or more trimming off all the crappy loose threads and stitching on every single seam, inside and out.Disappointed? You betcha!
