This item was installed like a crane in the attic of my garage addition. I have a 3' by 4' opening in the center of the ceiling. I either connect chains to the cable or the cable directly to an item and lift it up to the attic. Usually, I load and my boys are in the attic unloading. I can easily lift my mower, wheel barrow, boxes of Christmas decoratios, etc. with abosolutely no problem. I installed by hanging the motor housing from a pipe clamp clamped over two collar ties set about 48" apart, although I plan to get a piece of steel 1 3/4" thick and square so that the motor doesn't rock on the round pipe. I love this thing. My friends have their minds blown when they see this in action.

purchased two hoist for home use both have failed within 2 wks. of purchase. thats $269.00 dollars of boat anchors!! these units junk!! e.a corser

I needed a hoist to lower firewood to my basement as I get older. This hoist works great. However based on my use I did have to change how it was mounted and without a welder that would have been very difficult. I was surprised at how quick it raises and lowers itS load. The controller cable could have been longer to allow either operation from my yard level or from my basement level, but this was not a big draw back for me. The construction of the lift is durable(heavy metal construction) and the amount of cable that comes with the hoist is more than sufficient.I'm very please with my new hoist and wood lift.
