5May sound crazy but I play this one more than my Martin parlor guitar
By C. Craven
I'm not saying it's a finer instrument than my Martin 00-16DB, which I adore, but I play it more, both around the house, and even when performing live these days. And it's the perfect instrument to take to jam sessions, parties, etc. or when traveling.A friend, who has about 40 mostly high-end guitars, brought one of these A&L Ami cedar tops over to my house and put it in my hands. I couldn't believe how great it sounded... and loud... and how nicely it played, for such a tiny price. I paid $[...] for mine a couple years back (not through Amazon). I see they're a bit more expensive these days. But even for $[...], this is one supremely playable, nice sounding little guitar. The only work I had done was a simple undersaddle pickup installed, plus I installed brass string pins which made the sound a bit louder, brighter and have more sustain. The intonation was and remains spot on. I am even using it for some songs when recording. Running through a decent pre-amp, this thing sounds really good live. Here's a link to a live performance using this guitar.[...]I also have a Seagull Coastline Grand Parlor, also made by Godin (as is the Ami). It's got a cedar top as well with laminate sides and back, and also plays and sounds very very good. It has 14 frets (which I sometimes need) rather than the 12 the Ami has. But the Seagull is almost twice as expensive .. and certainly doesn't sound or play twice as good. So, unless you really need 14 frets, I'd go with the Ami.This is a great instrument for anyone wanting an inexpensive but great playing/sounding 'travel' or jam guitar. But don't be surprised if it ends up being one of your favorite instruments.

5Best guitar buy out there!
By Maryanne Richardson
This is an amazing little guitar with a great big sound! It is NOT a child's guitar, but if you have a child that wants to learn, get him this one because it sounds so good and is easy to play and fret. This guitar stays in tune for days. I see the cheapie guitars at the Walmarts/etc and think "that is only gonna turn off a beginner because these guitars are cheap and crappy sounding. The price is great on this guitar and it's made by the luthiers that make Seagull guitars. I bought the black and removed the plastic circle fret design just by carefully peeling off. I have many guitars to choose to play in the morning and I always grab this one. Really.
