I purchased this machine to use in a high school concession booth. We use it about 8-10 evenings per year, popping corn continually for 2 hours each evening. I researched popcorn machines for a long time before I chose this model. No other machine in this price range was recommended for this kind of use. We have had the machine for 2 years and it has performed beautifully during that time. It is very easy to use. When we use the Great Northern corn in pre-measured packages (oil, corn and salt) ANYONE can learn to use the popper in just a few minutes and the results are perfect every time. In the concession stand I use the 8-ounce packages of corn. Most of the other machines I researched would not hold that much corn, so I can make lots more popcorn in each batch with this equipment. The popper is sturdy, easy to clean and easy to maintain. Only problem is that I have to bring the machine home after every event because my family is hooked on the popcorn and will not eat any other kind. When we use it at home I use the smaller (6 ounce) pre-measured corn packages.

We have had our Paducah 8 Ounce Antique Popcorn Machine and Cart for about 7 months now and we use it weekly, if not more. It is easy to use and makes wonderful popcorn. Fresh popped popcorn from a machine is sooooo much better than that microwaved stuff. Every batch of popcorn that we have made has turned out wonderfully and the machine does it all. We just turn it on and pour in the oil and popcorn and it does all of the work. We would purchase this machine again in an instant. It also has easy cleanup. The popping pot comes right out for clean up and the tray in the bottom of the base makes cleaning up the un-popped kernels a breeze, although there are very few unpopped kernels. I would highly recommend this popcorn machine. We have also used the 6 oz and the 4 oz packets of popcorn from Great American Popcorn and recommend those too.

My husband is a drama teacher, and we wanted to invest in a popcorn maker for concessions use at our productions. Our main objectives were quality popcorn, large capacity machine, safety, quiet operation, and easy enough to use that we could teach volunteers to operate it and not worry about them ruining the machine or hurting themselves. After some searching, we found exactly what we were looking for in the Black Paducah popcorn machine by Great Northern Popcorn. It was hands down the best price for a unit of this size. Great Northern also offers prepackaged kernels and oil, which made it really easy for our volunteers to operate. The machine is easy to clean, and we've never had burned kernels. The oil takes maybe 3-4 minutes to heat up, so I'd say you have fresh popped popcorn in 5-6 minutes.The only thing that I wish was a little better was the noise factor. The machine itself IS whisper-quiet - you really can't hear it operating much at all. But the sound of the popping kernels is not exactly muffled enough to run at the back of the theatre. It's to be expected, but it's nice to know in case that's an issue for you. I love the solid construction of this machine, and we hope to enjoy great-tasting popcorn for years to come.
