I installed this unit after spending many hours searching for a reasonably priced shower kit. So far, I've been completely happy with it. I had to solder in the rough-in valve as usual, but that proved to be no big deal. You should remove the main cartridge and both of the small shut off valves that this unit comes with when you do your soldering (in order to prevent heat damage to the plastic and rubber components). The cartridge seems reliable as do the two shut off valves. Those shut off valves will be handy if I ever have to remove the main cartridge, as I will not have to shut off the main water supply to the house. Flush the system with house water before re-installing the shut-off valves and main cartridge. The metal hose and trim kit are of good quality and work well. The vertical bar works well, and the hose height is fully adjustable. I found the kit screws that came with the bar to be about 1/2" too short to go through tile, backer board, and into the wall stud and still hold the bar very securely. I used my own longer screws for this part of the install. The instructions are fairly clear as long as you are a visual learner. Pay close attention to the little drawing that illustrates the correct "up" position for the main cartridge; install that upside down, and things will not work properly! There's an extra "notch" in the brass stem that identifies the "up" position. Technical support from Moen was excellent. I made two phone calls with questions and got through to a live person who immediately helped me. My only mild complaint is that the hand held shower head sprays in too-wide a pattern. The spray is quite diffuse, and I prefer a tighter pattern of water. Three months into my bathroom, and the unit is working and holding up great. Would buy again.
