5The best 24 Inch Monotor I Could Find
By Hal
I did a lot of searching for a 24 inch monitor and finally settled on this one. After reading many reviews it is clear for most monitors the likelihood of a bad one ranges about 3 to 4 percent and the likelihood of dead pixels is 10 to 20 percent. Note that this monitor has a three year warranty. Most others are only one or two years. I am happy to see this one has no dead pixels.Having moved from a 17 inch monitor the first impression was what a giant! One thing I love is that I can look at my work area and have all my desktop icons in view on the left. And I can have a number of different folders open with them all in view. The view is crisp and bright and the resolution is great. Even small text print is sharp. And there is little brightness shift with view angle. The monitor has both elevation angle and height adjustment. The height adjustment is spring loaded so moving it is easy but it could be a little smoother. The monitor rotates horizontally smoothly on a concealed "lazy Susan" and tilts smoothly in elevation angle. Both require some pressure so the monitor does not move from desk vibrations and being bumped. Display adjustments are viewed on the screen and changes are made with buttons on the lower right side of the screen frame. The main complaint I have is that it is hard to see the small buttons while you are making adjustments. There are two power switches. The main is on the back which can be left on and one on the front with a blue light is handy for everyday use.To be able to move the cursor over this large screen you will definitely need a cordless mouse. Still you will need a lot of space to move the mouse. For that reason I have found the Logitech cordless thumbball to be the ideal mouse. And to use this large monitor you will need a video accelerator capable of 1920 by 1200 pixel resolution.

5The Samsung 245BW is a beautiful high resolution monitor
By Gregory G Class
I have had a Samsung 245BW for the past 3-4 years and it's an amazing monitor. Samsung released updates to it that added rounded edges and an awkward base that you can't rest things on. Opting out of getting a newer version, I got a second and the two next to eachother are beautiful and striking. Neither of the monitors I received has dead pixels or other visual artifacts. I actually prefer this model to the newer versions of this monitor because the 245bw has this really classy bevel on the outside of it that makes it just feel very solid. As far as I know this was product that was discontinued a while back so don't expect to find these unopened/new. The monitors are really solid though so even used, these are a great buy as they probably will hold up for at least 7 years of use from the manufacturing date.Despite the monitor being an older panel, its colors are rich, its display is responsive (more responsive than many newer displays), and the screen is very sharp! 1920x1080 is a very common resolution for modern monitors (not this one) and quite frankly after using a screen like this with a 1920x1200 ratio, those lower resolution "HD" screens feel frustratingly cramped. If you're looking for a professional-grade monitor that is sharp, has a solid build, and looks classy on your desk, look no further. As mentioned in an earlier review, the only defect that the monitor has is that it has a limited vertical viewing angle. This can be annoying if you use your monitor from multiple angles like if you are laying in bed or sitting on a couch watching movies on the display. I personally just use the monitors from my desk, so this is not an issue for me.

3The flaw is really getting to me
By Samuel J. Decker
This otherwise great monitor has what I consider to be a flaw, though it is probably by design. This was not Samsung's top of the line monitor, it was a little bit cheaper. I bought it brand new when it was the going thing and paid around $500 for it. It is indeed crystal clear, with bright contrast and nice colors. And so it deserves more than 3 stars for all the other good qualities, but the issue has just become a sore spot that won't go away. The problem is the viewing angle. It's really specific, and not optimal. Your eye level has to be above the center of the monitor for optimal viewing. If you are in a tall chair, everything looks fine. In my desk set up I have it angled all the way down (as if it is looking at my neck), but it's not quite enough. And let's say you play a movie and sit back on the couch and your eye level is way below center. The the contrast reduces greatly; like by 30-50% depending on the angle! And if you go even lower you can see the colors starting to reverse like on the old laptop LCDs of the late 90's. I've had this monitor since 2007, and it still bugs me to this day. This will become my side monitor very soon.
