4Very silly, lots of fun
By Mr. David Thomas Moore
Why is is they never made a gangster film where the gangsters meet up, congratulate each other on an effectively coordinated, slickly executed job, divvy the cash up fairly and go on their respective ways? Nope. Someone always be trying to double-cross everyone else n' that.Ca$h 'n Gun$ is about the *other* type of gangster film. You've just rendezvoused at the agreed safe-house after the robbery and have to divide the money between you. Over the coming eight rounds of play (typically about 30 to 40 minutes) you will threaten, cajole and occasionally shoot one another - if in a friendly, good-natured way - to ensure you get the biggest cut.Gameplay is simple and very quick. Over the eight rounds each player must shoot three times (once, he will be the one who loses his head and shoots first) and bluff five times. Each player chooses an option - and a target out of the other players - and then everyone is given a chance to stand or withdraw. Withdrawing loses you your share of that round's cash, but so does getting shot; and if you get shot three times, you die. The winner is the richest gangster at the end of the game.Asmodée have created an almost perfect party game. It's actually a fairly simple game of bluff, but the secret is in how it's played. You don't just point to your target each round, you actually point foam guns -(Seriously. Foam guns. How awesome is that?)- at each other; you don't just say "I'm in", you shout a war cry (the game proposes "Banzai!", but you can't play for more than a few minutes before dragging out your favourite movie-stand-off-scene quotes; "any of you ****ing *****s move and I'll execute every ******-****ing last one of you!"); each player is given a different archetypal gangster to play, so you can try and put on silly accents. There are optional rules for once you get a bit more confident (although the first page of the rulebook deals with a helpfully simplified version of the game to start with right away, and advises you not to look at the next page until you've played). The "Super Powers" cards are slightly misnamed; they slightly bend the rules for you (being able to survive one extra shot, for instance, or to pick a gun up from a fallen foe... or finding a grenade in your pocket), adding a more strategic twist. The "Cop in the Mafia" rules recreates the central plot of Reservoir Dogs: one of you is an undercover cop; which one? Will he be able to call the SWAT team in before the other players uncover and kill him? Both add a lot of replayability to a game that could otherwise pall not long after you master the fairly simple rules. All around, an excellent game. Silly, quick, loud and fun.

4Good gangster fun, and nobody gets hurt
By Michael Ceciliani
I bought this game at a gaming con in Maryland. I had played it a couple of times before that. Cash n Guns allows you to participate in the world of "The Mob" or organized crime if you prefer. Up to six can play and there are eight rounds. Here's how it works:You are given a foam gun (nice touch), and a "role" (there's five guys and one female). No matter who you get, you get eight "shooting" cards, one for each turn. There are five blanks (CLICK), two BANGs and one BANG BANG BANG. The latter card "takes out" the player you aim at. A BANG will wound a player. In each round, you aim your gun at someone. After the guns are drawn, players have three seconds to "drop out" or remain. Dropping out eliminates you from splitting the cash in that round, but it also spares you from being shot or killed. If more than one person is aiming at you, you might consider dropping out. Whoever is left who isn't wounded or killed gets to split the cash. Here's the catch. The cash must be able to be divided EVENLY between all the players. This may mean some or all of the money may not be available for distribution. Any left over money is carried to the next round. Five money cards are displayed for each round. They come in $5,000, $10,000 and $20,000 amounts. There are fewer $20,000 amounts, so if you see a couple of those showing, go all in and use that BANG BANG BANG card.Getting wounded three times eliminates you from the game. Each "drop out" reduces your money by $5,000 at the end of the game. The player with the most money at the end of eight rounds wins. Cash n Guns allows you to be a hit man for about a half hour and it makes being in the Mob a challenge. Just like in the real Mob, you can't trust anybody. You never know who's going to turn against you.

5"Get Your Fingers off the Dough, You Lousy ****!" (Blam! Blam! Blam!)
By Timothy Weeks
Taking inspiration from films like the ultraviolent neo-classic gangster flick Reservoir Dogs, Ca$h & Guns is the game of what happens after the heist -- when the gangsters start fighting over the haul. What really sets this game apart is the 6 toy guns that come in every box. Everyone gets one. Each turn, 5 bills are revealed. They are each worth from $5,000 to $20,000. This is the cash the gangsters are going to fight over. Each player then chooses a "Bullet" card. (This determines the order of shooting.) Everyone points their guns at their intended target. At this point, if you "lose your nerve," that is, if too many guns are pointing at you, you can "duck out." That means you knock your little plastic piece of its stand, and you grab a "Shame" marker.Players then shoot. This means showing their Bullet card. "Bang bang bang!" shoots first. Then comes the "Bang!" cards. Anyone who gets shot takes a wound piece. Get shot 3 times, and you're done. The remaining players divvy up the cash evenly. Any cash that can't be divided up evenly (no change can be made) is added to next turn's pot.The game lasts eight turns. If you aren't dead by then, the player with the most cash wins. (You lose $5K for each Shame token.)The real fun comes when you're pointing the guns at each other. While they are made of orange foam, there is a certain suspension of disbelief that really puts you into the "movie." It's even more fun when you start throwing out your favorite one-liners. (Gangster-style profanity is known to fly!)There are a few variations that add to the mix: super powers and an undercover cop. They bring a little more longevity to the game.Admittedly, the game is largely brainless, and thrives off the heist-movie thrills. It's definitely categorized as a "filler" game. Still, it's great fun and comes highly recommended. Also check out King of Tokyo.
