Product Description
Development on the A-6 Intruder (now in use as the EA-6B Prowler) started in 1957 after the U.S. Navy issued specifications for an all-weather attack aircraft that would replace the A-1 Skyraider. Since being accepted into military service in 1963 the A-6 Intruder has seen combat with U.S. forces in a variety of roles primarily as an attack aircraft. The Intruder was used as an attack aircraft throughout the entire period of direct American involvement in the Vietnam conflict with 84 total losses including 58 to enemy fire. The A-6 has also seen combat operations in Lebanon (1983) Libya as part of Operation El Dorado Canyon and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm as well as Somalia and Bosnia. Intruders were retired from the attack role in the mid 1990s however they continue in use as EA-6B Prowlers in the electronic warfare role.Modeled here is the EA-6B Prowler detailed in the same low-visibility manner as Prowlers used by the U.S. Navy today. Great care has been taken to ensure that this model resembles the actual aircraft in use as closely as possible something that any enthusiast or collector will appreciate.

This was a gift for my father who worked on the electronics package for this plane. He loved it! When you are buying for people who like precision things, things must be precise. His exclamation "Wow!" from a reserved engineering type was priceless!
