Purchased the Kathy Ireland writing desk so I had to match it with this lateral file. So pleased with the quality and packaging was well protected. Just had to unpack and get hubby to help move up the stairs to the loft area. Great Look!!!!!

This is a really nice 2 drawer lateral. We were a little confused, as it came with "fake" randomish dents to make it look older/more authentic. But overall, very good quality, sturdy, solid wood lateral. Will never go back to laminate crap again.

... wish they would have been more descriptive as to the type and color of wood on this lateral file. I bought this to go with my Kathy Ireland by Martin Southampton Office Desk thinking it would be a perfect match. I bought my desk from a local furniture store where I had my eye on this lateral file to go with it. By the time I saved enough money up to purchase it, the store had discontinued it. I was thrilled to find it on Amazon. When it arrived, however, the wood on top of the file does not match the desk I have. The wood on the desk is dark red cherry while the wood on the drawer file is a light maple. Also, the top drawer on the file does not close all the way. I'm guessing something happened during transit b/c it seems a bit 'off kilter'. It simply doesn't stay shut. These two issues are unfortunate, but I will keep it b/c I don't want the burden of exchanging it... it is a heavy piece... I am 5'2 115lbs and I had to help the delivery man lift it up 2 flights of stairs into my house. Anyhow, the thought of sending it back makes me weary. This being said, it is a very solid piece and does look good in my office. Just wish the colors of wood matched.. and that the top drawer would shut right! Very modern and stylish though.
