When i bought this i was worried it was going to lame and not impressive looking. but its not. the base is one full piece, no fold line and looks identical to whats on the box. the pieces are made out of plastic but they have a marbled look to them, you really wouldnt think they are plastic unless you were touching them. all in all good replicate chess board for the price.

Having read the other reviews before I purchased this game, I knew that the pieces were very breakable. The first time my son and I played, we thought that the pieces were very lightweight and unstable on the gameboard. We were very careful not to knock them over for fear they would break. When the game ended, I picked up the bishop to return it to the box, and the arm snapped off! This game is nicer than the cheaper game (the game board is one piece and not just cheap folded cardboard), but it is not worth the money that I paid for it.

He's been enjoying the HP movies and the Wizard's Chess Match is one of his favourite scenes. When I saw this chess set on another website, I thought it would be perfect for him. And it is. We all love it. The board is solid, marble-looking - not foldable cardboard. The pieces have great detail and are solid (resin, I think). They could be a bit heavier, but they are fine.I highly recommend it.
