Product Description
Bench-crafted one at a time, the leather journal cover is crafted from custom tanned quality cowhide deeply embossed with a finely detailed mature oak tree representing the Tree of Life. The journal is accented with a solid pewter button, which an attached rawhide cord loops around to securely fasten the journal closed. Within the leather cover is a replaceable hard-cover blank book with 208 pages of heavy bond acid-free pages, perfect for recording sketches, notes, diaries, dreams, poetry, musings or your personal works of literature. Once the pages are full, the journal may be refilled with a new blank book (also available separately), allowing the journal to be appreciated for a lifetime. Leather portions are completely tanned and hand-tooled in the USA. Pewter accent is individually designed and cast in the USA. The tree of life design wraps fully around the journal, front to back.

I've owned this journal (really a journal cover) for several years and it rarely fails to elicit a "wow" when I pull it out in front of clients. It's just beautiful. The half page size makes it easy to carry. A previous reviewer commented that replacement refills are hard to find. True, but here's where you can find it Classified Graphite Cover Notebook -- basically any half page / 5.5" by 8.5" notebook will work just fine.

This journal cover is absolutely beautiful. It comes with a removable journal inside that, once filled, is easily replaced. When you run your hands over the leather, you can actually feel the ridges that make the tree's details. I will, without a doubt, purchase more products from this company. The quality is amazing, the artwork is exactly what you'd expect for the price- brilliant. It will last forever, just like the tree of life.

After reading the reviews and viewing pictures I purchased this journal for personal use and upon opening the box, I was immediately impressed. Well packaged, the journal was wrapped in tissue and ribbon...great presentation. I read the enclosed literature about the craftsmanship in which Oberon prides itself which I considered a challenge. I tried to find flaws without success. The leather is firm but slightly supple when the insert is removed. There are no loose stitches, no frays, no scuffs or markings of any kind on the surface. The journal pages are not lined but the included lined template can provide guidance when writing. (I like the flexibility or writing and/or drawing on pages.) The journal has a slight fresh leather odor as you would expect. One difference from the pictures: the binding strap is shorter on my journal, but in a good way. The pictures make it look as though there is a significant amount of strap left. Not so on mine. With two full twists around the silver acorn and oak leaf button, the strap is completely hidden; just the right length. I could easily imagine this journal lasting the rest of my life and because of the quality, I'm visiting Oberon Design's site for more high quality products.Outstanding product at a very reasonable price.
