Cargo Logic mats have a carpet like surface that will accept the special Velcro based movable cargo retainers without damaging the mat. I have tried the retainers on stock carpet and they will pull up the carpet threads when you move them. First day we got this we needed to transport a vase filled with flowers. Enclosed it with the 2 L-shaped retainers and drove without tipping it over.

This mat perfectly fits the cargo area of my 2010 jeep patriot. It appears sturdy, and I expect it will hold up to my shepherd and boxer.
