Product Description
The Hagstrom Select Series, Vintage Series, and UltraLux Series guitars recapture the original glorious Hagstrom style. They are built to the same stringent quality standards and feature Hagstrom's exclusive technologies including the legendary H-Expander Truss Rod while introducing a number of new technological advances such as the Resinator Fretboard in order to guarantee that these are the finest guitars on the market. The Vintage Series Viking is Hagstrom's most sought-after hollowbody. This guitar covers all genres from blues to rock to fusion/jazz and back again. Tremendous tone permates and the Viking's incredible sustain has become legendary. It features a Contoured Maple laminate body with a Canadian Hard Maple Set Neck. The fingerboard is made from Resinator wood with Hagstrom 6 mm Dot Position Marks. The Viking has a 24.75 inch scale length. The H-Expander Truss Rod provides tension at either end and running the entire length of the neck, and the rigid yet lightweight alloy truss rod allows for a very low action and thin neck, two factors that were instrumental in earning Hagstrom its reputation as the world’s fastest playing guitar. Other features are Hagstrom 18:1 die cast tuning keys, 3-way pickup toggle switch, long travel T-O-M bridge with Hagstrom trapeze tail piece, and 2 x volume/ 2 x tone.

I own this guitar. I am a 63 year old, female musician who's been playing since I was 15 yrs old. I received the original Hagstrom Viking for graduation in 1967 and played it all across Germany during the '60s. 10 years later, it was stolen from me and I was heartbroken. Then last year, I saw this guitar online for half-price and decided that I just had to have it. I took the plunge and haven't been sorry for a second. It brought back so many memories. The feel and playability of this guitar are exactly as I remembered. Even though it is no longer hand-made in Sweden (now made in China, no less!), it still displays the same workmanship of my original guitar. I guess the Hagstrom folks are keeping a sharp eye on their Chinese production.I have loved this guitar for 45 years. It's thinner neck is perfect for my smaller female hands but it's plenty fast! It doesn't matter what kind of music you play, it's always got the tone and nuances you want. It stays in tune, it's weight is not too hefty, and is balanced well. The beauty of this axe is exceptional. While I own other guitars, this baby is my heart. I think you'll find it'll be your fav as well. You can't go wrong with this one!!!

Picked up a truly gorgeous new Hagstrom Viking (lefty) last week and proved to myself that the consistently solid reviews by pros and new owners alike is not just hype. The Chinese workmanship is very high quality (but not quite as good as what I find on my American-made Gibsons/Fender). Set up by the factory was excellent (intonated, low action, zero buzz, etc). The very thin neck (a bit thinner than a Gibson 60's) is very easy to play (particularly fast after you break in the fretboard's proprietary "resinator" surface a bit). The pick ups are very balanced and solid, non-muddy, particular when the amp is driven (I love the bridge pup). Pots are OK. However, what the tusq nut giveth, the subpar tuners taketh away - in terms of staying in tune (but still better overall than my stock Gibsons). For the price (I haggled) it's an excellent instrument and hard to put down. In fact, I may sell my beloved SG Standard because I can already tell that I'll seldom play it with this far more versatile Hag hanging around.
