By T. Ham
I have purchased these hi-hats because their small diameter helps them sound distinct for Drum 'n Bass beats. :-)Note that because of their size and because of the natural tone of the alloy, they won't sound like "regular" sized hats at all. B8 (don't fret; Meinl does B8 well!) tends to be higher pitched and cleaner than other alloys like B10 and B20.Compared to using 2 splashes, these are significantly thicker, but not as thick as something like the Classics Bells. This allows responsiveness and decent durability. They are high pitched, but crisp sounding. Stick sound is fairly glassy and splashing them gives some shimmer. Even though they are small, they are audible over the competing sounds of the rest of the kit. They are fairly priced cymbals that would be great for new tones, for the adventurous drummer, or as a right-foot hi-hat (like Thomas Lang or Benny Greb).
