I bought this without much research,thinking it would be as easy as the diamond testers.The test using this item requires several easy but often messy steps.Next I will wait and buy the more expensive model.

First thing I did with this product was to test it against the real thing following directions exactly, I tested a ring known to be 14K gold ,then another and another etc. to be amazed at the accuracey of this machine and it was right every time.

I test gold every day with my Mizar. About twice a year, I have to replace it because the alligator clip comes unfastened from the wire.A bit better engineering, please!
