Product Description

Clyde McCoy was a big-band Trumpet Player in the '60s... not a great musician, but one famous for getting a muted wah wah sound. This led to Vox trying to approximate this muted trumpet sound in a guitarpedal... hence the Vox "Clyde McCoy" wah wah circa 1967.Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton used a Vox "Clyde McCoy" model wah wah. Photos taken during the recording of Electric Ladyland document Jimi's as being the "signature" model, featuring Clyde McCoy's name written out script style on the bottomplate. The other type of Clyde McCoy was the "picture" version, which had Clyde's photo on the bottomplate. The "signature" model, with it's great sounding "halo" inductor, is what the Fulltone Clyde standard wah effect pedal is modeled after. The Fulltone CLYDE wah pedal was born from taking the best of the best of Fulltone's vintage Vox wah collection, and analyzing every aspect... going so far as sacrificing a few of the vintage inductors to get it right. Our Inductor is a tuned core handmade unit using exactly the same type wire and inductance as the '60s-era Vox, except very consistent from one unit to the next. A tuned core inductor is much more expensive to make, but the end result is worth it. Drop this into your wah and experience the difference. The only change from the original '60s Vox design is the addition of a very usable internal Resonance Control which is a large durable trimmer, for bass and gain adjustment, which is easily adjustable by hand without tools and with room to mark your favorite settings. All 2008 Fulltone's CLYDE Standard wah pedals sport the most authentic '60s Vox-type inductor available, which happens to also be the quietest.

5Fulltone Standard Clyde Wah Pedal Guitar Effect
By R. S. G.
The Fulltone Standard Clyde Wah is one of the world's best wah pedal effects. Not only does it have a vocal-like quality of that of a muted trumpet, but the pedal when switched off is true-bypass and does not detract from the signal from the guitar to the amplifier. The pedal is rugged, albeit the particular pedal I had purchased had a sensitive footswitch that required a softer "stomp" of the foot for the pedal to work correctly. When one compares the Fulltone Standard Clyde Wah to other pedals, there, in my mind, is no comparison.I have owned many other models and brands of wah pedals that are available on the market today and, to me, my search for the best pedal has ended. That being said, your ears can only be the judge of what you should buy for any sort of guitar or sound related gear, but because I have played guitar for over the past 45 years, I would recommend this pedal for anyone who isn't sure of what to buy. You really can't go wrong with this wah, it's just that good.

5Steel of a tank with the brassy wah of Clyde!
By Stephen Chilese
It is everything the reviews said it would be--solidly built, musically expressive and intelligently adaptable. I find myself using it as much for tonal shaping--hanging onto a growling sustained note--as for laying down a funky wah wah grove. The true bypass lets all the signal from the guitar trip merrily along through the other pedals to the amp. Swallow hard at the price but know it is worth it as Fulltone pedals are made for musicians. My OCD is another little piece of pedal heaven.

5Robin Trower's choice
By aspiring saint
Most wah sound good. This wah sounds great. I got a BBE in effort to save money. Now I have a wah that is unreliable and wish I had just got this to start!
